The Primary Years Programme (PYP) offers a transdisciplinary, inquiry-driven, and student-focused education, with a strong emphasis on responsible action. It nurtures both critical and creative thinking, allowing students to bridge traditional subject areas and make meaningful connections in their learning.

By fostering a deep understanding of local and global contexts, the IB program promotes ongoing inquiry into a wide range of issues and ideas.

The transdisciplinary approach runs through all three pillars of the PYP curriculum framework: the learner, teaching and learning, and the learning community.

  • The learner: Focuses on individual student outcomes and the goals they aim to achieve (what is learning?).
  • Learning and teaching: Defines the key aspects of effective learning and teaching (how can learners be best supported?).
  • The learning community: Highlights the importance of social outcomes in learning and the role IB communities play in realizing these outcomes.

“The Ministry of Education aims to ensure equitable, inclusive, and comprehensive education for all children and youth in Mexico.”

To this end the Study Plan has a structure with four elements;

  • Curricular integration: which articulates interdisciplinary work, the problematization of reality and the elaboration of projects.
  • Professional autonomy of teachers: which contextualizes the contents of the study programs according to the social, territorial, cultural and educational reality of the students.
  • The community: As the integrating nucleus of the teaching and learning processes, as well as the relationship of the school with society.
  • The human right to education. Taking the students as subjects of education without forgetting the constant training of teachers.

This curricular proposal in permanent construction ratifies the role of the State as guarantor of children and adolescents to exercise their human rights, and the right to education in particular.

A key feature that sets the Colegio de Ciencias y Humanidades (CCH) apart from other high schools is its innovative and highly effective educational model, considered one of the best in Mexico and Latin America. The CCH curriculum focuses on fundamental knowledge and prepares students for higher education by equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for their professional lives. It emphasizes the intellectual, ethical, and social development of students, treating them as active participants in their own education and culture.

Based on these principles, knowledge is organized into four main areas:

  • Mathematics: Students are encouraged to see mathematics as a dynamic science that helps them solve problems by understanding and interacting with both the physical and social worlds, fostering precision and logical thinking.
  • Experimental Sciences: In a world driven by scientific and technological advancements, students are taught to understand and interpret scientific information, helping them develop rational explanations for natural phenomena around them and in their own bodies.
  • Historical-Social: Students analyze and interpret historical events, social processes, and philosophical ideas to better understand the evolution of universal culture.
  • Language and Communication Workshops: Students learn to effectively use language and symbolic systems, enhancing their ability to understand and produce content in their native language, a foreign language (English or French), and other communication systems used in modern society.
